Xavier McGriff is a 31-year-old US Navy Veteran who served four years as a Logistics Specialist on the USS Gerald R Ford CVN-78 Aircraft Carrier. He spent time working and attending college before deciding to enlist in the Navy to help with his education expenses.
After his four years were completed in 2021, Xavier returned to college and is now taking classes at Full Sail University in Florida studying UX (User Experience) Design, and will be graduating in November 2024.
In 2022, Xavier had routine lab work done and then received a call from the clinic encouraging him to get to the nearest hospital. He is in Stage 5 kidney disease, is not yet on dialysis, but his doctors are preparing him to start very soon. Xavier battles extreme fatigue and feels as if he is being “held back” from doing the things he enjoys - working out, playing sports, hiking, getting outside, eating what he wants, and being active. He is choosing to focus on the things he can do - playing his guitar, reading, and writing poetry.
Xavier is living with his father, who is a great support person and has a close friend who is helping him share his story. Will you consider helping this young man who has so much life yet to live?
Xavier has enlisted the help of a Veteran's organization called DOVE Transplant which is helping in his outreach to find his life-saving kidney donor. DOVE will assist all prospective donors throughout the process and make sure they do not incur any out-of-pocket expenses related to the evaluation or surgery.
A healthy person can live a normal life with one kidney and save this Veteran's life! Please click on the link below if you would like to learn more OR call (551) 233-1611.
