Waiting

"One of the scariest days of my life was when I realized I was going to need to rely on a machine every day to keep me alive."

Vicki is a 52-year-old newlywed and Veteran who served 7 years within the Healthcare Administration at the USAF. Throughout her military and now civilian career, Vicki has fought for the rights of patients.

When a rare disease called FSGS permanently damaged her kidneys, Vicki became one of the patients she had been fighting for her whole life. While Vicki was terrified to start dialysis, she has pushed herself to not let it run her life—she has remained active spending time swimming, watching her beloved Patriots and continues to work full time.

Vicki is hopeful a kidney transplant will help her get back to normal and give her the freedom to live fully, untethered to a machine.
