STATUS:

Received - Deceased Donor Jan 2023

Ramon Castillo served in the Marine Corps from 1977 to 1986 and was honorably discharged as a Sergeant. His military skills were in Motor Transport, Infantry, and Artillery Mechanics. He was stationed at Camp Pendleton, California; Camp LeJeune, North Carolina; and Okinawa, Japan.

After separation from service, Ramon worked as a Correctional Officer and then within a Sherriff's department in San Luis Obispo. He eventually moved to Las Vegas and was employed as a Security Officer for large Casinos in the area.

Ramon moved back to California to be closer to his family. Soon after he developed kidney failure and started life sustaining dialysis covered by the VA medical center. While dialysis treatments keep Ramon alive - he is bound to a machine 3 x weekly for over 4 hours - his diet and fluid intake is restricted - he suffers from fatigue and other debilitating symptoms related to his disease.
A kidney from a living donor is Ramon's best chance to live a renewed life - free from the restraints of dialysis. All costs related to the medical evaluation, travel, lost wages are covered for kidney donors with the help of DOVE.
Please submit a donor inquiry below to learn more about donation or how to help a Veteran in need like Ramon.
