STATUS:

Waiting

Michael Alexander is an Army Veteran who served from 1971-1979 as a Tactical Communication Repairman working in the field, in Germany for the first four years, and then as an instructor at Fort Jackson, SC for 2 years. He went back to Germany for his last two years and finished his time before discharge at Ft Gordon, GA.

After his military service, Michael worked at Mass General Hospital Laboratory of Computer Science for three years and went on to work for Raytheon for 21 years starting as a technician, eventually becoming an engineer (working on the Patriot missile and others) and taking classes at the University of Massachusetts. He moved on to Pfizer working in Bio-Medical Engineering and then to Thermo Fisher Scientific working with hospitals and pharmaceutical companies fixing mass spectrometers before his retirement in 2020.

Michael became ill in March of 2023 sending him to the ER, was admitted to the hospital due to his kidney failure, and was started on dialysis right away. It leaves him fatigued and does not have the energy he once had. Michael has five children, 11 grandchildren and one great-grandson. He is an avid reader and looks forward to getting back to exercising and walking when a living kidney donor has been found. His sister and son both came forward to donate their kidneys, but they were not cleared medically. Will you help him get back to living a normal life and being there for his family?

Michael has enlisted the help of a Veteran's organization called DOVE Transplant which is helping in his outreach to find his life-saving kidney donor. DOVE will assist all prospective donors throughout the process and make sure they do not incur any out-of-pocket expenses related to the evaluation or surgery.

A healthy person can live a normal life with one kidney and save this Veteran's life! Please click on the link below if you would like to learn more OR call 551-449-8319.
