STATUS:

Waiting

Larry Darby served in the US Army Reserves as a Shipping/Receiving Specialist doing inventories. He signed on to do four years, but unfortunately, a back injury only allowed him to serve two years.

As a civilian, he worked for Delta Airlines painting planes for four years, after that he did a variety of jobs painting homes and offices. Because of his back injury, he found himself not being able to work and had to rely on disability.

Larry has a daughter and four grandchildren. He has an incredibly supportive sister, Susie, a wonderful personal care assistant, and his fellow church members who are looking out for him, but he says that God is his biggest help! Larry is a cancer survivor, unfortunately, the cancer destroyed his kidneys. In 2018, they had declined enough that he needed to start dialysis, and has been battling the physical and emotional effects of those past five years. Larry would love to get back to being able to travel, go fishing, and enjoy outdoor activities. Because of dialysis, he feels that his life has been limited - a new kidney would allow him the freedom to enjoy them again!

Larry has enlisted the help of a Veteran's organization called DOVE Transplant which is helping in his outreach to find his life-saving kidney donor. DOVE will assist all prospective donors throughout the process and make sure they do not incur any out-of-pocket expenses related to the evaluation or surgery.

A healthy person can live a normal life with one kidney and save this Veteran's life! Please click on the link below if you would like to learn more OR call 551-449-8319.
