Kevin Shiau immigrated to the US from China when he was 10 years old. While playing basketball in high school, the Marine Corps recruiter started playing with them and Kevin said he wanted to join “the toughest branch” and enlisted shortly after graduation.

Sadly 2 years after enlistment Kevin was diagnosed with focal segmental glomerulosclerosis (FSGS) and was medically discharged. At 26 he needs to find a living kidney donor.

Kevin’s 71-year-old father has been cleared. However, due to the age difference, the transplant team is looking for a younger donor that will last longer into Kevin’s life.

Once we find a younger donor for Kevin his father, like many DOVE donors, is still dedicated to donating his kidney to a Veteran.
