Waiting

Kevin McEnery joined the US Navy in 2001 after graduating from high school and was looking forward to becoming a machinist mate. A medical exam following bootcamp showed concerning test results and he was eventually diagnosed with IGA Nephropathy. The Navy placed Kevin in a Temporary Hold Unit (THU) and he worked on getting medical waivers to stay in and serve his time. But after Kevin’s father (a Navy veteran) suffered a heart attack, he decided it was best to care for his father.

Kevin was discharged in 2002 and worked at Circuit City for a brief time, and then for the past 14 years at UPS as a package delivery driver before moving to a yard jockey position. Kevin and his wife Michele have been married for 20 years and are raising a son and a daughter. He enjoys sports and weightlifting, going to the shooting range and teaching his kids gun safety, and loves supporting his daughter in jujitsu and his son in boxing.

After a battle with kidney failure, Kevin received his first gift of living kidney transplant from his cousin in 2010. Things were going well until he contracted COVID-19 in 2022, which ended up attacking his new kidney. Unfortunately, he found himself back on dialysis and needing a second kidney transplant. Kevin is a 41-year-old husband and father with so much life ahead of him. He hopes to have the physical and emotional energy to be fully present in his family's lives. Will you help this young man get back to life without dialysis by sharing his story or consider becoming his kidney donor?

Kevin has enlisted the help of a Veteran's organization called DOVE Transplant which is helping in his outreach to find his life-saving kidney donor. DOVE will assist all prospective donors throughout the process and make sure they do not incur any out-of-pocket expenses related to the evaluation or surgery.

A healthy person can live a normal life with one kidney and save this Veteran's life! Please click on the link below if you would like to learn more OR call 551-233-1611.
