STATUS:

Waiting

Joseph "Joe" Rivera enlisted in the US Navy in 1984 through the Active Mariner Program serving three years of active duty in the VRC-30 squadron as a jet engine mechanic and providing maintenance on whole airplanes. He holds Airframe and Power Plant licenses and served two years in the Navy Reserves in a fighter squadron.

As a civilian, Joe put the skills he learned in the Navy to use working at NAS Miramar in San Diego and was assigned to a reserve squadron of F-14's supporting the Top Gun program. He also worked at Flight International where previously owned civilian Learjets were used for military training and Director of Maintenance for Critical Air, an air ambulance company, which operated in and outside the US. Joe has been working for Gulfstream Aerospace for 22 years, and is now the Vice-President of Operations.

Joe is blessed by his wife Keri, his son and two daughters, his stepson, and his four wonderful grandchildren ranging from 6 months to 11 years! He loves being outdoors boating, fishing, diving, and hiking. Joe suffers from polycystic kidney disease (PKD), a genetic disorder that unfortunately runs in his family. His father received a kidney transplant 17 years ago and his children have also tested positive. By taking care of his health with a strict diet, Joe has been able to stay off dialysis even though his numbers say otherwise. He desires to never have to rely on it by receiving a preemptive kidney transplant. Joe’s wife and children have been ruled out as potential donors due to health reasons. Will you help him stay off dialysis and live a long and active life by sharing his story or consider becoming a kidney donor yourself?

Joe has enlisted the help of a Veteran's organization called DOVE Transplant which is helping in his outreach to find his life-saving kidney donor. DOVE will assist all prospective donors throughout the process and make sure they do not incur any out-of-pocket expenses related to the evaluation or surgery.

A healthy person can live a normal life with one kidney and save this Veteran's life! Please click on the link below if you would like to learn more OR call 551-449-8319.
