STATUS:

Waiting

Jeffrey Garcia Sr. is a Veteran who served 26 years in the US Army. His service to his country and his dedication to Veterans has continued in his work as a nurse in the Mental Health Services Department at Cleveland VA Medical Center.

Jeffrey was deployed several times to Iraq. He understands the emotional toll of deployments. He feels especially qualified and dedicated to supporting other Veterans who are living with with PTSD.

Jeffrey has continued his nursing work at the VA despite having end stage kidney disease. Over the past 5 years, Jeffrey has relied on a dialysis machine to survive. The years on dialysis are starting to take a toll. Jeffrey is on the wait list to receive a kidney transplant. However the wait for a kidney from a deceased donor could take many more years.

A living kidney donor would enable Jeffrey to bypass the long wait for deceased donor kidney. Living Kidney Donation is safe for those who are medically and emotionally cleared. The medical evaluation is covered by Jeffrey's transplant center. Other costs related to travel, lost wages can also be covered.
Healthy people can live completely normal lives with one kidney, while saving a life with their other kidney.
Veterans like Jeffrey have done so much for their country and communities. Let us now be there in their time of need. Please contact Donor Outreach for Veterans (DOVE) by clicking the link below to learn more about kidney donation. Or call 551-449-8319. Thank you.
