Received! Living Donor Transplant 9/11/2023

Dathan O'Dell is a 36 year old USMC Veteran who served for 17.5 years until he had to retire early due medical issues, including kidney disease. He now works full-time as an intelligence professional for the Department of Defense.
Dathan's wife, Erin, is a nurse who works at a Naval Health Clinic nearby. He is a proud step-dad of three children ages 13 and two 18 year old twins.

Dathan was diagnosed with IGA Nephropathy, a kidney disease that occurred without warning and resulted in irreversible kidney damage. He is now reliant on daily dialysis treatments to stay alive. The best chance for Dathan to live a long life, free from the constraints of dialysis, is to undergo a kidney transplant. However, the wait for kidney from a deceased donor is over 5 years long. Dathan may not survive that wait.

Dathan needs to find a living kidney donor. Kidney donation is safe for healthy people who are medically cleared. Kidney donors can live completely normal lives with one kidney and they can save someone's life with their other kidney. Dathan is working with a Veteran-centric organization,
dovetransplant.org, that supports all prospective kidney donors throughout the process. They ensure all donors incur no out of pocket expenses related to their donation or recovery. Thank you!
