STATUS:

Received - Deceased Donor 7/6/24

Anthony Leonetti started his military service in the National Guard for one year in the Military Police and then joined the regular Army for four years continuing in the same field. He started at Fort Riley, KS, then a year in Korea doing patrol in town and on base, Sierra Army Depot in CA, and finishing in 1980 at Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, AL.

After his military service, Anthony went to work at a Sheriff’s Department and, as a young husband and father, had a close brush with death, leading him to change career paths in construction. He started doing drywall and went from foreman to superintendent, to owning his own construction company for three years until 9/11 happened making it hard to survive. Anthony went back to working for other companies and is currently overseeing two school properties for a school district In Houston Texas.

Anthony has two daughters and three grandchildren from a previous marriage. He has been married to Tamara for 13 years, and they have blended their family with her two daughters, one son, four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Two of his passions are fishing and hunting, but he would love to get back to riding motorcycles. In 2021, he needed to start dialysis after his kidneys failed from ibuprofen use due to demanding work performed while doing construction for so many years. He is still full-time and goes to dialysis three days a week after work. Anthony finds himself fatigued and needs to write things down more than he once did but is still moving forward and hopes to one day return to Colorado to be around his family.

He has enlisted the help of a Veteran's organization called DOVE Transplant which is helping in his outreach to find his life-saving kidney donor. DOVE will assist all prospective donors throughout the process and make sure they do not incur any out-of-pocket expenses related to the evaluation or surgery.
