Waiting

Albert “Al” Fitzpatrick enlisted in the Army after graduating from the University of New Haven with a bachelor's degree in computer science and playing linebacker for the football team. He served four years as an Army Airborne Ranger and was deployed during Operation Just Cause in Panama with the US invasion in 1989-1990 taking over an airfield.

After his honorable discharge in 1992, Al became a police officer in Columbus, GA for six years while working on his master’s degree in information systems. From there he moved to Phoenix and spent his career in IT and has worked for Charles Schwab in cyber security for the past eight years. Al and his wife Melissa have been married for nine years and have a blended family of two sons, two daughters, and two grandsons. He stays active by going to the gym, golfing, hiking, and taking the dog for a walk.

Al’s kidney disease began declining at a high rate in 1998, so he started making changes in his diet, exercising, and doing anything he needed to do to stay off dialysis. So far, he has accomplished that goal but knows his time may come unless he receives a pre-emptive kidney transplant. Al’s biggest joys are spending time with his family, playing games together, and going to his grandson’s flag football games. He needs a team of people willing to share his story with everyone they can in hopes that someone will consider becoming a kidney donor. Will you help Al receive this essential gift of life?

He has enlisted the help of a Veteran's organization called DOVE Transplant which is helping in his outreach to find his life-saving kidney donor. DOVE will assist all prospective donors throughout the process and make sure they do not incur any out-of-pocket expenses related to the evaluation or surgery.

A healthy person can live a normal life with one kidney and save this Veteran's life! Please click on the link below if you would like to learn more OR call 551-233-1611.
