Waiting
My name is William Thorne, and I served in the Army as a 14J in Air Defense. At discharge, I was an E1 and never had the opportunity to see combat. I received the Army Achievement Medal and enjoyed everything about being in the Army. I’m one of those who grew up wanting to wear the uniform.
After my time in the service, my civilian work career was mostly in customer service, data processing, and restaurant management. I am currently not working due to my kidney disease.
I am married, and my wife and I have a blended family of four children: two boys and two girls, ages 24, 19, 14, and 11.
I was diagnosed with diabetes in 2009, and that started the assault on my kidneys. In January 2022, I caught COVID, and it destroyed them. Within a few months, I was on dialysis. My hobbies and interests are sports, mainly football and basketball. I am a huge Chicago Bulls and Denver Broncos fan. I enjoy teaching my youngest daughter how to play basketball. Hopefully, after receiving a transplant, I will be able to go back to work.
Will you join DOVE in our mission to find a kidney for William? Your support, whether through spreading the word on social media or considering becoming a donor, can make a profound impact on his life and the life of his family!
William has enlisted the help of a Veteran's organization called DOVE Transplant which is helping in his outreach to find his life-saving kidney donor. DOVE will assist all prospective donors throughout the process and make sure they do not incur any out-of-pocket expenses related to the evaluation or surgery.
