Tamera Deleon an Army veteran who served 1.5 years active duty and 7 years reserves expressing... “being in the military was the best time of my life”! After spending time as a college student, wife, and mother, she enlisted in 1992 and worked as a medic earning Expert on an M-16 and being the only female in a Quick Recovery Force (QRF).
While serving in the reserves, Tamera worked as a housekeeper at the Hotel at Fort Rucker where officers stayed while traveling. Tamera started nursing school at the end of her reserve time graduating in 1995 and began her career after her move to CA. She worked for the Monterey County Jail as a nurse for almost 18 years until medically retired in 2017.
Tamera has an adult daughter and son and is still raising her 9-year-old daughter, Bailey. She loves baking and is best known for her cheesecakes. She also enjoys gardening and growing herbs. Tamera began having kidney issues and was diagnosed with chronic kidney disease (CKD). She is not yet on dialysis and hopes for a pre-emptive transplant to regain her health, both physical and emotional. A living kidney transplant will give Tamera the best chance to live a full life enabling her to be the mother she wants to be for her children for a long time. Will you help her by sharing her story and need for a living kidney donor or consider becoming a donor yourself?
Tamera has enlisted the help of a Veteran's organization called DOVE Transplant which is helping in her outreach to find her life-saving kidney donor. DOVE will assist all prospective donors throughout the process and make sure they do not incur any out-of-pocket expenses related to the evaluation or surgery.
A healthy person can live a normal life with one kidney and save this Veteran's life! Please click on the link below if you would like to learn more OR call 551-233-1611.
