STATUS:

Waiting

My name is Stanley Anderson. I was inspired to enlist in the US Marine Corps because I had several uncles who were Marines. Within a few weeks of my high school graduation, I was on my way to Parris Island for USMC recruit training. I spent the rest of my five years as a Cannoneer in the Marine Corps at Camp LeJeune, NC, finishing as a Corporal. I joined the Army Reserves in February 1982 and worked as a Gunner, Section Chief, and Drill Instructor, retiring from the Reserves in September 2001 as a Sergeant First Class, completing my 20 years of military service.

While serving in the military, I completed a Technical Training Program and received a two-year Technical Certificate in Electronics, which allowed me to secure a position with Canon Copier Service. As the field of Electronics was changing at a rapid pace, I ended up going into the Warehousing and Material Handler fields. I stayed in that line of work—warehousing, shipping and receiving, material handling, and warehouse safety training—both in business and public service at the US Postal Service, for over 40 years.

My wife and I have been married for 36 years and counting, and we are blessed with two sons and one daughter. Our oldest son is an Engineer; our youngest son is married, has two daughters, and is a College Professor. Our daughter is a Biology Technician, plans to go to Dental School, and is serving in the Air Force Reserves.

My interests include playing computer games, reading books, and working on cars. My hobbies are building model cars, planes, and trucks. My battle with kidney disease really saps my energy, so I do not spend as much time as I used to doing the things I enjoy.

Stanley has enlisted the help of a Veteran's organization called DOVE Transplant which is helping in his outreach to find his life-saving kidney donor. DOVE will assist all prospective donors throughout the process and make sure they do not incur any out-of-pocket expenses related to the evaluation or surgery.
