Waiting
My name is Sean Fennessey, and I am a 39-year-old single father who proudly served in the US Army from 2004 to 2012. I spent the first four years in the infantry, during which I completed basic training, infantry school, and airborne school at Fort Benning. My subsequent four years were spent as a psychological operations sergeant stationed at Fort Bragg, NC. During my military career, I completed three deployments with the 82nd Airborne Division—two in Iraq (2006, 2007) and one in Afghanistan (2005)—and served with the 20th Special Forces Group in Afghanistan from 2009 to 2010. One of my most cherished accolades is the parachutist badge awarded by El Salvador.
After my military service, I pursued higher education at Stony Brook University, majoring in Biochemistry with the goal of attending medical school. However, after becoming an EMT, I found my passion in emergency medicine, leading me to attend paramedic school. In October 2011, I was diagnosed with interstitial nephritis, and since January 2021, I have been on dialysis. Currently, I am not working due to undergoing dialysis and managing related health challenges. Despite these challenges, my optimistic outlook remains steadfast.
I am a devoted single father to four wonderful children: Chloe, who is 18 and a freshman in college, Liam, 14, Quinn, 9, and Ethan, 7. I thoroughly enjoy participating in all their adventures and watching them grow. A significant portion of my time is dedicated to volunteering with my sons' baseball league, where I have embraced roles as both a coach and an umpire. Nevertheless, I relish my role as a single dad and volunteer enthusiast.
Although dialysis has limited my ability to engage in most of my previous hobbies, I eagerly anticipate the day I can return to camping and other beloved outdoor activities post-transplant. The gift of a kidney transplant will allow me to be there to raise my kids and watch them grow into adults with lives and families of their own.
Will you join DOVE in our mission to find a kidney for Sean? Your support, whether through spreading the word on social media or considering becoming a donor, can make a profound impact on his life and the life of his family!
Sean has enlisted the help of a Veteran's organization called DOVE Transplant which is helping in his outreach to find his life-saving kidney donor. DOVE will assist all prospective donors throughout the process and make sure they do not incur any out-of-pocket expenses related to the evaluation or surgery.
