STATUS:
Waiting
Michael Strickler served four years in the Air Force beginning in 1978 and worked as a medic at Wilford Hall Medical Center on Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio. He became an instructor teaching an Allergy Immunology Course before he finished his time in the military. He was discharged in 1982 and ran labs for allergy testing for 13 years working with multiple hospitals. Michael joined the Plumber’s Union, received his CDL, and drove trucks for the union for 30 years before being medically retired in 2020.
Michael has been married to his wife Lisa for 38 years and raised two daughters. He was their softball coach for 15 years when they were younger. He enjoys walking, working out in his gym, and riding his stationary bike. After a kidney transplant, he would love to go back to fishing, playing ball, working out more, and getting his knee replaced to make it easier.
In 2020, Michael was preparing for knee replacement surgery when he was diagnosed with kidney failure after the results of his pre-surgery blood work. The doctors changed his meds, he lost weight, and watched his diet, all resulting in him being able to stay off dialysis. He is staying as active as he can while waiting for a living kidney transplant. Will you help Michael receive one before his health declines and he needs to rely on dialysis to sustain his life; will you share his story or even consider becoming his kidney donor?
He has enlisted the help of a Veteran's organization called DOVE Transplant which is helping in his outreach to find his life-saving kidney donor. DOVE will assist all prospective donors throughout the process and make sure they do not incur any out-of-pocket expenses related to the evaluation or surgery.
A healthy person can live a normal life with one kidney and save this Veteran's life! Please click on the link below if you would like to learn more OR call 551-233-1611.
