STATUS:
Waiting
Mayra is a U.S. Air Force veteran who was assigned to set up new field hospitals (aka MASH Hospitals). The Air Force called them “ATH” Air Transportable Hospitals.
The Air Force became the primary training center for the other armed forces. Mayra continues to be proud of her work setting these centers up. Even today, she sees how they save lives. These field hospitals were used to manage patients and save lives during the COVID pandemic.
Mayra now needs to ask others to help save her life. She has end-stage kidney disease, and her transplant doctor has cleared her for a living donor transplant. Finding a donor can potentially extend her life by more than 10 years. This would enable her to continue her work in emergency preparedness and disaster relief.
Please reach out to DOVE to learn more about kidney donation. DOVE will ensure there are no out-of-pocket costs related to travel, lodging, and the medical evaluation, which is covered by the transplant center.
Thank you!
Mayra has enlisted the help of a Veteran's organization called DOVE Transplant which is helping in her outreach to find her life-saving kidney donor. DOVE will assist all prospective donors throughout the process and make sure they do not incur any out-of-pocket expenses related to the evaluation or surgery.
A healthy person can live a normal life with one kidney and save this Veteran's life! Please click on the link below if you would like to learn more OR call (551) 233-1611.
