Lawrence “Ed” Houston is a Vietnam veteran who received his degree in accounting before enlisting in the Army in 1967. He was commissioned in Finance; however, the 1968 Tet Offensive happened, and he was moved to the Infantry. Ed had Platoon Officer and Advisor Training and learned the Vietnamese language, finally being assigned to help south Vietnamese government teams win with the hearts and minds of residents within the Phouc Tuy province. He was honorably discharged from the Army in 1970 with the rank of 1st Lieutenant.

Ed received more schooling getting acclimated to civilian life, and became a bank loan officer for 8 years. He then earned his CPA certificate and worked as an accountant for the next 20 years. During his career and into his retirement, Ed did a lot of volunteer work for foundations, school boards, sports leagues, libraries, and outdoor organizations. He has been married for nearly 50 years to his wife Peggy, and is a proud father, and grandfather who enjoys spending time with his family and his time outdoors, going hunting and fishing.

Being exposed to Agent Orange while serving in Vietnam has led to Ed’s kidney failure and his need for dialysis for survival. He battles vertigo but continues to stay positive and still does some limited traveling and bird watching with his wife, Peggy. Will you join us in our mission to find a kidney for Ed? Your support, whether through spreading the word on social media or considering becoming a donor, can make a profound impact on his life and the life of his family!

Ed has enlisted the help of a Veteran's organization called DOVE Transplant which is helping in his outreach to find his life-saving kidney donor. DOVE will assist all prospective donors throughout the process and make sure they do not incur any out-of-pocket expenses related to the evaluation or surgery.
