STATUS:
Waiting
My name is LaShel Sumter. I am a 46-year-old wife and mother who served in the U.S. Army Reserves for five years as a 71L Administrative Specialist from 1998 through 2005. I rose to the rank of Sergeant before I finished my time in the military, and it was an honor to serve my country.
I have been working as a civilian in the Federal Government as a Human Resource Specialist for the last 23 years. My husband, Carl, and I have been married for 20 years and have three beautiful daughters, ages twenty-one, eighteen, and twelve.
My father had polycystic kidney disease (PKD), which is hereditary. I found out that I had PKD after the birth of my youngest daughter in 2012. I thought I was hemorrhaging, only to find out it was kidney disease. I am in the process of receiving a PD catheter to start home dialysis and have been having some complications along the way.
I need to be here on this side of heaven for my husband and my three girls. I want to watch them grow and lead lives of their own. I do not want to spend the rest of my life on dialysis, having surgery after surgery. I still work full time, and I am struggling daily. Please, someone bless me with a living kidney. I am looking for someone to bless me with a living kidney.
