Waiting
My name is Larry Hanson, and I served in the US Army from 1974 to 1977 at Fort Carson, Colorado, and earned an Expert shooting badge for the M16 rifle. I was a helicopter engine mechanic, which included repairs and test flights to check for vibrations in the engine. I really enjoyed going on the test flights because I got to see many different things with a bird’s-eye view.
I have been married for 28 years to the love of my life and have two daughters, ten grandchildren, and one great-grandson. I am now a retired master electrician but still work part-time, helping people out when needed. I also volunteer on the building and grounds committee at my church. As a hobby, I enjoy woodworking (making furniture) and hunting. I spent 6 months designing and two years building a sawmill for cutting logs into lumber for my furniture making.
In 2008, I found out that I had cancer and took 4 years of treatments (including two stem cell transplants) before it went into remission. The aftereffects were hard on my body. All the radiation, chemo, and pneumonia took a toll on my kidneys. Since 2012, my kidney function has decreased to the point that I will be starting dialysis in the next couple of months. Sadly, I don’t have the stamina I used to have.
Will you join DOVE in our mission to find a kidney for Larry? Your support, whether through spreading the word on social media or considering becoming a donor, can make a profound impact on his life and the life of his family!
Larry has enlisted the help of a Veteran's organization called DOVE Transplant which is helping in his outreach to find his life-saving kidney donor. DOVE will assist all prospective donors throughout the process and make sure they do not incur any out-of-pocket expenses related to the evaluation or surgery.
A healthy person can live a normal life with one kidney and save this Veteran's life! Please click on the link below if you would like to learn more OR call (551) 233-1611.
