Waiting

Keia Benefield is a 47-year-old veteran who retired from the U.S. Navy as an Information Systems Technician First Class. She served nine months on the USS Kearsarge in hazardous waters during the War on Iraqi Freedom. Keia cherished the opportunities for travel, the invaluable learning experiences in her career field, and the lifelong friendships that became her second family.

After the military, Keia began working as an IT Cyber Analyst for the Department of Defense. She and her husband are happily married and are raising three wonderful children, ages 18, 16, and 14. Keia was diagnosed with kidney disease during the pregnancy of her last child. Fortunately, she is not yet on dialysis, but she works from home due to the severe fatigue caused by her kidney failure.

Keia eagerly anticipates actively engaging with her children during their final years of high school. She looks forward to attending her son’s basketball games and her daughter’s lacrosse games, especially since her daughter is currently in her recruiting season. Keia would love to be there for her daughter’s signing day during her senior year. Will you join us in our mission to find a kidney for Keia? Your support, whether through spreading the word on social media or considering becoming a donor, can make a profound impact on her life and the life of her family!

Keia has enlisted the help of a Veteran's organization called DOVE Transplant which is helping in her outreach to find her life-saving kidney donor. DOVE will assist all prospective donors throughout the process and make sure they do not incur any out-of-pocket expenses related to the evaluation or surgery.

A healthy person can live a normal life with one kidney and save this Veteran's life! Please click on the link below if you would like to learn more OR call (551) 233-1611.
