STATUS:
Waiting
I served 15 years in the U.S. Navy and was honorably discharged in 1991. I worked primarily in the engine room as a diesel and steam mechanic and was fortunate to travel to many countries during my 11 years at sea duty. I ended my career as a First-Class Petty Officer during Navy recruiting duty. What I loved most about being in the Navy was traveling the world, experiencing different cultures, and meeting different people.
In my civilian life, I worked as a valve technician in power plants, but I needed to retire 9 years ago when my company sold out and I had to replace both of my knees. I was very fortunate to leave that job as it was extremely stressful. I am happily married to my wife, Julie, of 9 years, and am blessed with 6 children—3 daughters and 3 stepsons. I have 6 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
Unfortunately, the incidence of diabetes and kidney failure not only runs higher in veterans but also in my family. I was diagnosed with kidney disease about 3 years ago, and it has progressed rapidly. I am now starting peritoneal dialysis and am in great need of a kidney to survive. Due to my dietary restrictions and extreme fatigue, I am forced to limit activities outside my home.
Being the recipient of a kidney, that gift of life, would give me the energy to enjoy my family and watch my grandchildren grow in my twilight years. Will you join us and DOVE in our mission to find a kidney for me? Your support, whether through spreading the word on social media or considering becoming a donor, can make a profound impact on my life and the life of my family!
Tony has enlisted the help of a Veteran's organization called DOVE Transplant which is helping in his outreach to find his life-saving kidney donor. DOVE will assist all prospective donors throughout the process and make sure they do not incur any out-of-pocket expenses related to the evaluation or surgery.
A healthy person can live a normal life with one kidney and save this Veteran's life! Please click on the link below if you would like to learn more OR call (551) 233-1611.
