STATUS:

Waiting

John Madafferi enlisted in the US Navy in 1967 and served during the Vietnam War. He worked as an engine man and was stationed for 14 months in Iceland on a communications base in charge of the emergency generator. John was moved to an aircraft carrier, also maintaining the emergency generator. He really enjoyed getting to know people who had the knowledge and stories about how they survived in times of war while serving in the Navy.

After his separation from the military, John opened and operated his own refrigeration company for 13 years. He decided to move on and become a Field Equipment Rep for a large corporation called Hussman and was there for 35 years. He retired in 2022, after his first wife passed away from breast cancer; they were married for 35 years. He is now remarried, and they have a blended family of 7 children and 7 grandchildren.

John has been battling polycystic kidney disease (PKD) for over 40 years and has been reliant on dialysis since May of 2024. He seems to be handling it well and continues to stay as active as he can by riding his bicycle and walking. John’s hobbies include target practice, fishing and boating, dancing, and eating out (where healthy food can be found). Will you join us in our mission to find a kidney for John? Your support, whether through spreading the word on social media or considering becoming a donor, can make a profound impact on his life and the life of his family!

John has enlisted the help of a Veteran's organization called DOVE Transplant which is helping in his outreach to find his life-saving kidney donor. DOVE will assist all prospective donors throughout the process and make sure they do not incur any out-of-pocket expenses related to the evaluation or surgery.

A healthy person can live a normal life with one kidney and save this Veteran's life! Please click on the link below if you would like to learn more OR call (551) 233-1611.
