STATUS:

Waiting

John Hal Volkert served in the U.S. Navy and was stationed at the Naval Air Station in Adak, Alaska, for one year. He was assigned to Aircraft Refueling as a Bookkeeper and Dispatcher and qualified to drive various fuel trucks and to refuel planes. After leaving Adak, Hal attended A School on Treasure Island and later worked on the staff of COMCREWDESPAC as an EAM operator and a Univac 1500 computer operator.

After his military service, Hal worked as an auto parts store manager in Ohio for a few years before moving back to California. He then became a manager at International Harvester, followed by a role as an inventory supervisor at General Motors Holding Division. His work involved extensive travel along the West Coast for dealership purchases and sales. When his position was eliminated, Hal started his own business, Hal Volkert Inventory and Consulting, and remained self-employed until his forced retirement in 2021 due to kidney failure and dialysis.

Hal met his wife, Cindy, while stationed in San Diego. They have been married for 54 years and have two children, six grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. Hal and Cindy enjoy taking walks and drives together in beautiful northwest Arkansas, listening to music, and watching movies in their media room. They look forward to being able to travel long distances to visit family. Will you join us in our mission to find a kidney for Hal? Your support, whether through spreading the word on social media or considering becoming a donor, can make a profound impact on his life and the lives of those he loves.

Hal has enlisted the help of a Veteran's organization called DOVE Transplant which is helping in his outreach to find his life-saving kidney donor. DOVE will assist all prospective donors throughout the process and make sure they do not incur any out-of-pocket expenses related to the evaluation or surgery.

A healthy person can live a normal life with one kidney and save this Veteran's life! Please click on the link below if you would like to learn more OR call (551) 233-1611.
