Waiting
My name is Jesse Silva, and I am an Army combat veteran, husband, father, and grandfather. I served as an Army Lieutenant in Vietnam and was awarded two Bronze Stars and a Purple Heart. Looking back on my tour in Vietnam, I appreciate the camaraderie with my fellow soldiers.
After completing my military service, I received a master's degree in International Commerce. Throughout my civilian career, I had the opportunity to live and travel extensively abroad. Travel is something I have always enjoyed and hope to continue.
I am very fortunate to live close to my three grandchildren, daughter, and son-in-law. I attend all my grandchildren’s school and athletic events, which I enjoy very much. I am also an avid tennis player and golfer and try to ski when I can.
I am hoping to find a living kidney donor so I can continue living a full and active life with friends and family. I was diagnosed with genetic Polycystic Kidney Disease in 2018, and I am currently preparing for dialysis. In 2024, I was placed on the deceased donor waitlist at the Iowa and Pittsburgh VA Transplant Centers, which is expected to take many years. A living donor would be my best option, which is why I am working with DOVE, an organization that helps connect kidney donors to Veterans in need.
Will you join DOVE in our mission to find a kidney for Jesse? Your support, whether through spreading the word on social media or considering becoming a donor, can make a profound impact on his life and the life of his family!
Jesse has enlisted the help of a Veteran's organization called DOVE Transplant which is helping in his outreach to find his life-saving kidney donor. DOVE will assist all prospective donors throughout the process and make sure they do not incur any out-of-pocket expenses related to the evaluation or surgery.
A healthy person can live a normal life with one kidney and save this Veteran's life! Please click on the link below if you would like to learn more OR call (551) 233-1611.
