Waiting
Hello, my name is James Frederick. I'm retired from the U.S. Army, served 26 yrs, where I was mostly in Army aviation maintenance and I currently work for the FAA (for the last 10yrs). In the FAA I am an ATSS (Airways Transportation Systems Specialists), mainly my job is to keep electricity running for Air Traffic Controllers.
I have a genetic condition known as PolyCystic Kidney Disease or PKD. This disease causes cysts to form in my kidneys reducing kidney function until the kidneys can no longer function. Many members of my family have died as a result of this disease. I am currently dependent on dialysis to keep me alive. I am in need of a kidney transplant. I have been on the transplant list now for 4 years but may have to wait years longer before a deceased donor kidney becomes available.
I am hoping to find a living kidney donor. Kidney donation is safe for people who are medically cleared. My insurance covers the cost of an evaluation and surgery. I am working with an organization, DOVE, that helps all kidney donors who donate to a Veteran in need. They will help cover any non medical expenses such as travel, child care pet care if needed. If you are interested in learning more about kidney donation or supporting an organization that is helping Veterans access transplant please click on the link below or call: (551) 233-1611. Thank you!
