STATUS:

Waiting

James “Jimmy” Calisto enlisted in the US Marine Corps in 1978 at the age of 20. He served four years in the infantry as a machine gunner and radio operator while stationed at Camp Lejeune, NC. He was deployed to Europe, Asia and South America and spent time on three naval ships. Jimmy’s family has a long history of military service; his father and uncles served in WWII. Because of his devotion and positive influence as a father, Jimmy's son decided to join the military and served in the Navy.

After his service, Jimmy had his own landscaping business for 15 years before moving into real estate for several years. He got into doing a little construction and handyman work before retiring in 2021 due to his kidney failure, which started in 2017 and quickly deteriorated until his need for dialysis in 2022. Jimmy has difficulty sleeping and battles fatigue but keeps pushing through.

Jimmy enjoyed doing construction so much that he would even like to go back to work. He would love to have some sense of normalcy in his life, where he could go on vacation and spend more time with his friends and family. Will you help Jimmy reclaim his health and be able to live a full life again by sharing his story with others? Might you consider becoming a living kidney donor and give him the best chance for his future?

Jimmy has enlisted the help of a Veteran's organization called DOVE Transplant which is helping in his outreach to find his life-saving kidney donor. DOVE will assist all prospective donors throughout the process and make sure they do not incur any out-of-pocket expenses related to the evaluation or surgery.

A healthy person can live a normal life with one kidney and save this Veteran's life! Please click on the link below if you would like to learn more OR call 551-233-1611.
