James Brown proudly served in the US Marine Corps and retired as a Gunnery Sergeant in 2010 after 20 years of service. He had many jobs in various places and started his career as a security guard in Kings Bay, GA, and then was sent to Camp Lejeune as a rifleman. After a few years, James moved to supply and was sent to Okinawa and Houston; he went to Camp Pendleton and served with a Maintenance Battalion before being deployed to Iraq in 2004. Upon his return, he was Supply Chief in Fort Worth and finished his wonderful career at Twenty-nine Palms, CA, in the 3D Assault Amphibian Battalion.
After his retirement, James worked many different jobs, from security guard, corrections officer, armored car carrier, to postal worker. He is currently working as a security officer with the Department of Homeland Security (I.C.E.), and he loves it! James gets to work with a variety of people from diverse backgrounds, all working and supporting each other to get the job done, reminding him of his time in the military.
James is married to his wonderful wife and is a proud father to a son and a daughter. He has battled hypertension since the mid-1990s, and over time, his kidneys declined, requiring him to start dialysis in 2020. He looks forward to having his health restored and not having to rely on a machine to keep him alive. He would love to be able to travel with his family again and do his job without interruptions due to his dialysis scheduling. Will you join us in our mission to find a kidney for James? Your support, whether through spreading the word on social media or considering becoming a donor, can make a profound impact on his life and the life of his family!
James has enlisted the help of a Veteran's organization called DOVE Transplant which is helping in his outreach to find his life-saving kidney donor. DOVE will assist all prospective donors throughout the process and make sure they do not incur any out-of-pocket expenses related to the evaluation or surgery.
