STATUS:

Waiting

My name is George Beyjoun, and I was born overseas to American parents. At the age of 12, I moved back to the U.S. with my family. This was my first visit to America, and I was filled with joy and excitement. I loved the American lifestyle and knew I wanted to spend the rest of my life in the U.S.

In college, I joined ROTC with the goal of becoming an officer during the Vietnam War. I spent 28 years in the Army, with most of that time in the National Guard and Army Reserves, where I supported Operation Desert Shield, Operation Desert Storm, and Operation Enduring Freedom. I retired in 2005 as a Civil Affairs Officer with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel (LTC).

I began my career in 1977 as an Armor Officer, attending Armor School at Fort Knox, KY. Later, I also worked in Military Intelligence as a Battalion S-2. Throughout my career, I formed many life-long friendships. As a company commander, I worked with soldiers from diverse backgrounds.

On the civilian side, I worked as a Commercial Banker for several U.S. banks, including Bank of America, PNC Bank, and TD Bank. I enjoyed helping small businesses obtain loans to grow and thrive. While both my military and civilian careers were demanding, I was fortunate enough to meet my future wife in 1998, and we married in 2000. I am blessed with two wonderful sons, currently aged 23 and 22.

I’ve always been in good health and exercised regularly. Life was good, and I was living the American dream. However, during the COVID-19 pandemic, I decided to retire from banking and began making plans to travel once the restrictions were lifted.

My life took a sudden turn in March of 2022 when I was diagnosed with PKD (polycystic kidney disease). Over the past two years, I’ve worked hard to slow the progression of the disease, but I am now in end-stage kidney disease and am in need of a kidney transplant.

I would love to be around to see my older son complete medical school, my younger son become a CPA, and to enjoy hiking, camping, and campfire cooking again. With a kidney transplant, I hope to regain my active lifestyle and be there for my family.
