STATUS:

Received - Deceased Donor

Dwayne Humes is a 60 year old proud Veteran of the United States Air Force.
Dwayne has been employed as a Security Officer at Hackensack Meridian Health. In March of 2020, early in the pandemic, Dwayne caught COVID and nearly lost his life.

Dwayne is grateful to have survived, but his kidneys were permanently damaged and he now relies on a dialysis machine to keep him alive.

Dwayne has placed on the kidney transplant waiting list at Hackensack hospital. However, the wait for a kidney from a deceased donor is over 5 years long. Dwayne's best chance to survive and thrive is to find a living kidney donor.

Dwayne is an optimist. He remains upbeat everyday and hopeful that a successful transplant is right around the corner. In the mean time, he enjoys time with family and friends. He is hopeful a generous donor will answer his prayers.

Kidney donation is safe for those who are medically cleared. The evaluation is covered by the transplant center.

Out of pocket costs are covered by organizations like DOVE.
