STATUS:
Waiting
My name is Dennis Kromanaker, and I am a combat veteran who served two years in Vietnam. I was trained as a combat engineer specializing in explosives and roadside land mines; I was also a tunnel rat. With time left on my enlistment, I extended for a second tour, became a door gunner, and eventually made crew chief on a helicopter gunship. I enjoyed flying, but it was dangerous. At discharge, my rank was Specialist 5-E-5.
After the military, I completed a four-year sheet metal apprenticeship and worked in welding and fabrication on conveyors, dust collectors, and stainless food processing equipment. I worked in ten different states, plus Mexico, doing sheet metal work. Before I started traveling, I worked as a foreman in various paper mills in Wisconsin and was a shop foreman for three years before retiring.
I have one son and four grandchildren from my present marriage, and one son from my first marriage. I have been battling kidney issues for almost three years, and it has been getting worse over the last 4-6 months. I enjoy working on building projects in my shop and traveling across the country; we have been to all 50 states, plus the Caribbean.
