STATUS:

Temporarily on Hold

David Duck served in the U.S. Navy for 20 years, from 1973 to 1993, and retired as a Senior Chief. He was a Data Processing Technician, working in the computer field. When the USS George Washington was built, Dave oversaw the installation of all non-tactical ADP equipment on board, including the mainframe computer, Information System, and Local Area Network. He was transiting the Suez Canal on the USS Yosemite when the Marine barracks were blown up in Beirut. The most enjoyable aspect of his service was developing and training high school students to become the next generation of military leaders.

After separating from the Navy, Dave worked for the Department of Defense for 20 years, starting in computer operations and ending up writing software requirements for pay and personnel systems. He is a widower with a son living in Florida and a daughter in Wisconsin, where she lives with her husband and Dave’s two grandchildren. Dave has a servant’s heart, demonstrated by helping his neighbors and paying tribute to those who have served by creating an honor wall in the clubhouse where he lives.

Dave was diagnosed with Stage 3 kidney disease when he was 50 and started peritoneal dialysis 15 years later. He is now on dialysis for 8.5 hours a day. He can no longer run, play tennis or pickleball, or do heavy lifting due to having a catheter in his body. Dave would love to travel to see his kids and grandkids, be physically active again, and go on mission trips with his church. Will you join us in our mission to find a kidney for Dave? Your support, whether through spreading the word on social media or considering becoming a donor, can make a profound impact on his life and the life of his family!
