Jim Cochrane

Navy Veteran

“I have a loving wife and three beautiful daughters—ages 24, 19, and 18. A kidney donor would enable my daughters to have their father alongside them for many more years to come," shared Jim during his search for a donor. "It would also give me the best chance to continue working in IT at an environmental company that helps to clean and recycle air and water."

Joseph James (Jim) Cochrane is a 50-year-old Navy Veteran who enlisted straight after high school graduation in Kansas. He was deployed to the Persian Gulf on the aircraft carrier USS America and participated in operations Desert Shield, Desert Storm, and Provide Comfort. Jim became one of the youngest enlisted aviation air wing warfare specialists. He was honorably discharged in 1995 and is a proud member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Jim has a genetic disorder called Polycystic Kidney Disease that attacked and permanently damaged his kidney function. Jim's living kidney donor, Jennifer Sayles, is a mom of four who responded to a DOVE local news story that profiled Jim Cochrane. Jim received Jennifer's kidney on January 5th, 2022 at Advent Hospital in Orlando, FL.
